Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana
Medical Center Patient Tower to be Named for Family
A generous, dedicated and civically-engaged family that made its fortune in Southern California are continuing a long tradition of philanthropy with a record $50 million gift to Providence Petaluma Foundation, a transformational donation that will support the expansion and renovation of Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center. The new, five-story patient tower will be named the Friese Family Patient Tower to honor Donald and Andrea Friese, their children and grandchildren. The donation marks the largest ever to a Providence hospital in California and is among the largest across the 52-hospital health system.
“Don and Andrea Friese are giving the most precious gift of all to their local community,” said Matthew Rinnert, Chief Philanthropy Officer, Providence Petaluma Foundation. “The gift of health and wellbeing.”
Healthcare in the San Fernando Valley is on the cusp of a remarkable leap forward.
We’re proud to introduce Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center, the single largest healthcare construction project in the history of the San Fernando Valley. The product of a synergetic partnership between Providence and Cedars-Sinai, this state-of-the-art modernization will transform the current Tarzana hospital into a world-class medical campus in 2023. With an exceptional facility right in their backyard, Valley residents will no longer have to drive over the hill to find the best in modern healthcare.

STORIES OF IMPACT
Lives are being changed forever

One Step At a Time
Grace Zeolla was enjoying her summer break and looking forward to her freshman year at UCLA when she became sick with mononucleosis. At first, she wasn’t too concerned. Then, she noticed her face was tingling and starting to go numb. The numbness traveled down her legs and soon, she was struggling to keep her balance.

Overflowing with Gratitude
Married for three years, the happy news of twins on the way was a joy to Divya and Amol Shenoy. Forewarned that twins put Divya’s pregnancy in a high-risk category, the couple took it in stride when she started showing signs of preterm labor at 22 weeks. Divya underwent a procedure to stave off a preterm birth.

They Saved My Life
It wasn’t until Nilo Bahadorani was getting treated for a low iron level that she discovered she had an asymptomatic case of COVID-19. Because her infection compromised her blood oxygen levels, the prescribed iron drip caused a life-threatening allergic reaction.
